Frequently Asked Questions
- How will my fairings fit?
- Your fairings will fit nicely into the OEM mounting points. Our fairing kits are precisely made with injection molding to ensure you won't require heavy modification or non OEM mounting brackets.
- Where are you located?
- Are offices are located in Fort Myers Florida.
- How long will it take for my fairings to arrive?
- The production & painting process will take 5-10 business days. Once painted, shipping takes 5-8 days. Generally you will have your fairings in less than 20 business days with most arriving at just around the 3 week mark. Some take longer, up to 5 weeks. This is less that 15% of our orders that do not pass one of our stringent quality control points.
- Where are your fairings made?
Our ABS plastics are imported from japan and then manufactured into fairings in China. The truth is 99.9% of aftermarket fairings are made in China due to intellectual property issues (i.e. logos, trademarks). Even some OEM manufacturers produce their fairings in China and at one time, one even in the same factory we use. In todays world China makes some high quality products when they are paid to do so, as a result the quality of fairings coming out of China varies greatly. We have put in much research and testing to find the best manufacturer available. If our fairings aren't the best aftermarket fairings, we would be shocked. - What's so special about ABS Plastic?
- High grade ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) is more lighter and more durable than other forms of plastic. It holds its shape when molded by heat, is chemically resistant and is not affected by temperature, making it a better option for the manufacturing process and quality on the bike than fiberglass or PVC. High grade ABS plastic is the best choice for aftermarket motorcycle fairings, and it is the only material we sell. Be cautious as many ebayers and retailers of low priced fairings are selling PVC fairings... and some even advertising them as ABS.
- Do you use OEM color codes?
- We do not use OEM paint codes -- no aftermarket producer has the OEM paint codes or decal color codes, as the OEM manufacturers have kept these a trade secret. For the best match you can send and image of your bike to sales@motorcyclefairingsource.com
- Why buy your fairings instead of OEM?
- It's really quite simple, our fairings are of the same quality material as OEM fairings and they cost about 1/4 the price. It doesn't take a mathematician to see the value between our prices and the OEM prices. Our fairings are made to the same spec from injection moulds replicated from OEM plastics and use the same plastic, and manufacturing process, as the OEM's available. The myth exists that OEM fairings are better fit and that was true up until a few years ago. However, with the internet the technology to make these parts has trickled acrosss the globe. Of course the older the bike is or impacts it has taken, the higher the chances of misalignment, however this would happen with either even OEM fairings. When a professional installation source is used, our fairings are often better quality, lighter weight and better looking than OEM fairings.
One thing OEM cannot match is the variety of paint schemes available. They are limited to production only, thus your choices are limited to what the production line is painting at that time. We offer custom painting at the same price (most of the time). We can do your logo, a picture of your... significant other, fairings you've seen on another website, basically anything, even Repsol fairings on a Kawasaki. Just send a message via the contact us page, or call us and we'll hook you up.
- Can I cancel my order?
- Once an order is placed you have 24 hours to cancel your order until it is fully processed. If you need to cancel your order it is best to call us AND send an e-mail informing us of your need to cancel.
- I found a paint scheme on another website but I want your quality. What do I do?
- Well my friend, purchase any fairing scheme for your model and year bike. Then send an email to sales@motorcyclefairingsource.com containing the image or a link to the image of the fairing scheme you want. All orders are followed up on so you do not run the risk of getting the wrong design.
- Am I responible for any taxes or duties?
- No! Never! Unlike our competitors and ebayers we take care of all the taxes and import related fees for orders going into the US. Becareful as many fairing companies leave the import taxes your responsibility and since they are not American companies you have no legal recourse. ANy taxes or duties into the U.S. will be our responsibility.
- What if there is a defect/error/damaged piece?
- If there is a defect or error in the fairings, we will gladly replace the incorrect or damaged pieces. Please inspect your order thoroughly upon delivery as all issues must be brought to our attention within 7 days of delivery. Please contact us as soon as you notice anything that is not up to par to.
- What payment methods do you accept?
- We accept all major credit cards via our website terminal which is secured using a state of the 256 bit encryption system. We also accept paypal.
- What is the difference between Injection and Compression Molds?
- Injectionn molding is the processed used by us and OEM manufacturers while most of our competitiors use compression molding. With injection molding the ABS plastic is melted before being injected into the mold under constant pressure. The plastic is then allowed to cool and harden in the mold resulting in a uniform thickness and spec. Compression molding uses uniform plasitic piece which are heated (not melted) and placed into a heated cavity which it is pressured to take the shape of. This process results in ill fitting and poor quality fairings.
